Module Content
Lecture:
Planning, design and dimensioning of the protection technology of electrical power supply networks (e.g. high-voltage overhead lines, cable networks, gas-insulated switchgear). The following aspects are covered:
- Design, mode of operation, nominal data of current and voltage transformers
- Function of protective devices and selectivity in electrical systems and networks
- Use of overcurrent relays as well as distance, differential and breaker failure backup protection in high-voltage networks
Laboratory:
- Examination of current transformers
- Setting and testing of overcurrent relays and differential relays
- Investigation of distance protection in radial, ring and parallel line networks
Earth fault detection
