In this elective, students will get mentored through the process of creating their own digital character from scratch. Professional design and production methods for creating real-time characters for games will be demonstrated and feedback will be given to students' work each week. Participants are expected to create a complete character from sculpt to finished low poly model with textures and present it in a real-time rendering engine (Marmoset Toolbag, Unreal Engine, etc.). It is allowed to use an offline renderer as well (Arnold, V-Ray), but I will be able to give more detailed technical input on the real-time workflow. Working from an existing concept is recommended, but using your own design is possible, too. Bear in mind that I won't be able to grade a student's work if the character created during the course also ends up being used for a semester project or a different elective. The Elective is carried out online via Zoom.
