This course focusses from three philsophical angles on the topic of diversity. Starting with "gender trouble", continuing to "race trouble" and ending with "gaze and story trouble".
Welcome to Film Sound Basics. In this class we will talk about and exercise the basics of recording, editing, mixing and mastering film soundtracks with a special focus on documentary film.
Welcome to Media Technology 2. Here you can find all course materials, slides and organisational news.
The course will be a short introduction into the basics of documentary cinematography. Starting with a bit of technology for handling a camera and sound properly, an exercise will be held to gain experiences in handling the equipment in a documentary situation and also make creative choices. The exercise will then be discussed for possible improvements.
The end of the course in June will focus on the analysis of camerawork you will have done for your semester projects.

The Documentary Portrait
In the 2nd semester we will deal with documentary film - in all its facets.
We will not do small assignments as in the first semester, but rather
try to realize a profound, emotional, well-founded 10-20 minute short film under your own artistic and organizational responsibility. The realization should take place within 14 weeks without much technical effort.
In the course of the semester, you will spend 5-7 shooting days with one of the two persons you made your interviews with. Please let your protagonists know in advance that you would like to accompany them in their everyday lives.
And please also make sure that everything is possible without a lot of money and travel expenses.
It is best to look for protagonists from your immediate surroundings whom you have access to and whom you can meet and shoot often and free of charge.
