Welcome to ´Communication Skills 1. During the semester we will focus on improving: Grammar, Vocabulary, Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension and Writing Skills.
The topics to be covered include: Travel, Personality, Work and Language. We will also cover the major grammar topics such as: Question Forms, Present Simple and Continuous, Past Simple and Continuous, Present Perfect Simple and Continuous, Future Forms, Articles, Demonstratives and Relative Clauses.
All activities should be completed and submitted online weekly (preferably during the time for the lesson). You are required to complete at least 75% of the tasks, if you are to get the credit points. The answers will always be provided immediately or before the next session. We will also utilise the chat feature in Moodle and Zoom meetings.
In this C1 class, we will touch upon global topics that are relevant to everyone, such as:
How do we learn from the past (or do we?)?
What shapes our identity?
What is beauty?
What happens when we leave our comfort zone?
How can we deconstruct racism?
What is a luxury and what a bare necessity?
How do digital media influence our lives?
How do we deal with our oceans suffocating in plastic?
How can we find new solutions and think outside the box?
In this special semester, the course will be taught online, you will receive material - videos, texts, exercises - to work with on your own but we will also meet regularly in a Zoom conference for discussions. Since this is a language course and you should have the opportunity to do some speaking, we will form study buddy groups (of 2, max. 3 people), which will get together virtually and discuss our topics further. All the details will be explained in our introductory session on 3 November.
